All But Forgotten is a look at the early filmmaking of Maine poet, novelist and producer Holman Francis Day. Using interviews with participants, actual footage from Day’s now rare productions and meticulous research, this program by Everett Foster reveals an early chapter in Maine’s film history. It points out the energy brought to the screen by real locations, opening on location with a modern feature film.
Holman Day wrote colorful Maine stories for national magazines such as Harper’s, The Saturday Evening Post and Collier’s. His material was- in the 1920s-a natural source for photoplays. Day’s film company can be credited for bringing the young Mary Astor to Maine. This documentary is brought to life by host, film historian James Card and the wonderful music of Glenn Jenks.
