The Keyes Fibre Company was founded in Shawmut, Maine in 1903. This video shows the operations of its groundwood mill in the early 1950s which processed pulp to ship to its Waterville, Maine moulding mill. There the pulp would be manufactured into paper tableware such as plates and trays.
The original 8mm film used to make this video was shot by long time Keyes Fibre employee LeRoy L. Goodine in 1952 and his personal narration was added in 2005. His comments offer detailed information about the groundwood process and the names of many of the individuals shown doing their work in and around the mill.
